From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in the influential clan could enable the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the other eight players to round up the Seekers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can expect discovering which characters will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
